Epic evening.

Last night was like an early Christmas for me.
1. The long wait to see the 'Where the Wild Things Are' film was finally over. I haven't enjoyed a film so much in a long, long time. Awesome casting of both actors and voice actors and a tasteful take on creating the 'wild things' (thank God he didn't go all CGI on them and kept them looking like giant puppets- you can see the Jim Henson studios influence) helped make this film a instant classic for me. Considering the original story (killer book of course- as a primary school teacher I make sure I read this to every class I teach at least once a year!) is only about ten sentences long Spike Jonze did an awesome job of the script. This was such a heart felt film (the lovely lady next to me needed at least three boxes of tissues) that touched on the subjects of family, loneliness, depression, love, therapeutic destruction, anger and much more. Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs provided the soundtrack which fitted the film perfectly. Watch the credits carefully and you will even see Rick Howard and the Girl skate team get a word up.
2. I scored my tickets to the Auckland and Wellington CONVERGE shows - stoked!

3. New art piece. Photographer and general awesome dude Steve Tilly, of Stil studios, did a collection of Polaroid collages a few years back I have had my eyes on for a long time. After much contemplation of which one to choose I decided on this one. Can't wait to hang this sucka up! click on the pics for much better quality images.

STOKED!
